Great question. I think motivating students is probably the most difficult job of a teacher. I'm so happy to have you wonderful trainees. If I were in that situation, I would try to design some activities with their interests in mind.
It is important to prepare meaningful activities in order to bring students into the mood of the class.
The teachers should also get sentences that are of their interest, the teacher should always keep in mind that the students that are interested will guide the class to reach their expectancies.
I think the students who have future dreams and vision are highly motivated. To make them get interested in class, I will tell stories of the famous self-made people.

It is a challenging question. To encourage the students with low motivation, teacher should figure out their interests first. If we reflect their interests on learning materials or activities, we can attract them into the English class to some extent.

If I were in that situation, I would show the students someting interesting about English. Though it isn't not that academic, it could be enough for attracting studnents to English itselt. There are lots of crazy websites.

This website is so funny but genious. If you put some acting verbs, then chickenman shows what it is. For example, you put "dance", and he will dance in the clip. Then the students must be crazy, and wanna try any English word the know. It could be the first step to keep studying English, I think..
